Dr. Carola Gómez-Rodríguez
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
I am interested in broad-scale macroecological patterns but, mostly, in the integrative assessment of biodiversity, where multiple layers of evidence are considered together to gain a better understanding of the processes that have shaped diversity patterns. In particular, I want to understand how long term dispersal processes have influenced the distribution of diversity we see today.
At present, I am focused to the incorporation of molecular variability and macroevolutionary information into diversity analyses (from alpha to beta and thus gamma diversity). I am also very excited about the application of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) in diversity monitoring and the identification of biotic interactions.
